What Is the Use of a Dual SIM Phone?

There has been a lot of talk in the technology world these days about phones that offer the functionality of dual-SIM card. DualSIM means that a phone can have two SIM cards inside it at the same time and that both of these SIM cards are functional simultaneously. When buying multi SIM phones customers should be careful to make sure the phone has slots for more than one SIM, and that these SIMs can be simultaneously operating because it is much more convenient for the user. When you have a a phone that allows for dual-SIM, you can receive calls from SIM 1 and answer with SIM 1, and receive calls with SIM 2 and answer with SIM 2.

One of the main reasons these phones are popular is because they help consumers to fight abuse from cell phone operators that make calling other operators expensive besides the operator your SIM card belongs to. For example, in some countries you can get free calling between vodafone subscribers only, or the national operator, etc. If you have multi SIM then you could call people for free on 2 operators and save substantially on your phone bill. Also, it allows your friends and colleagues who only use a certain provider to call you cheaply using their chosen provider. Phone companies are very against this that is why a majority of these phones are made by companies in China like CECT. Companies like Motorola, Nokia, Apple, have contracts with providers in every country which make it unattractive for them to offer dual SIM cell phones to break carrier contracts.

For the consumer a dual SIM phone is an amazing convenience and cost saving tool. This is also very useful for frequent travellers. For example, some people may travel between multiple nearby countries for work, school, leisure or a variety of reasons and want to use a local SIM card to save on the cost of using a foreign SIM card. As much as you can imagine it the value of having a dual SIM phone is very useful.

Thankfully for consumers dualSIM technology is not overly complicated. Therefore the cost of having a dual SIM phone is very affordable in the year 2011. There are many economical options for using more than one SIM simultaneously especially from Chinese brands such as CECT.
